MODE Global and Overhaul Strengthen Cargo Security with Real-Time Theft Detection

Three masked thieves breaking into a parked freight trailer at night while loading stolen cargo into a white van at a logistics warehouse, illustrating the growing threat of cargo theft in global supply chains.

As cargo theft continues to evolve into one of the logistics industry’s fastest-growing operational risks, MODE Global has announced a strategic partnership with Overhaul to strengthen shipment security across its carrier network through real-time cargo monitoring, AI-driven risk detection, and rapid incident response. The initiative adds an additional layer of protection for freight moving throughout North America while leveraging tracking technologies already deployed by participating carriers.

According to the announcement, the partnership has already demonstrated measurable results. During its first four months, Overhaul’s monitoring platform detected abnormal shipment behavior after identifying a trailer that became stationary for more than 24 hours while communication with both the driver and dispatcher was lost. The system automatically escalated the incident, allowing Overhaul to activate its LE Connect law enforcement network across multiple U.S. states. Authorities successfully located and recovered the shipment, valued at approximately $500,000, with no cargo loss. MODE Global stated that this outcome represents a return on investment of more than 550%, while helping the customer avoid the much larger financial impact that cargo theft can create through operational disruption, replacement costs, and reputational damage.

The announcement reflects a broader industry trend toward combining real-time shipment visibility, predictive risk management, and coordinated recovery capabilities to address increasingly sophisticated freight theft schemes. Rather than relying solely on traditional GPS tracking, modern cargo protection platforms are designed to identify unusual shipment behavior, trigger automated alerts, and coordinate immediate response when high-risk events occur. As cargo security becomes a higher priority for shippers and third-party logistics providers, technologies that enable proactive intervention are expected to play an increasingly important role in building more resilient supply chains.
