The Port of Ipswich has been selected as a key logistics hub for the Sizewell C nuclear power project through a new partnership between Associated British Ports (ABP), Brett, and Tarmac. The alliance will use the port to receive and distribute large volumes of construction materials by sea, supporting one of the UK’s largest infrastructure developments while reducing dependence on road transport.
According to the project partners, increasing the use of coastal shipping is expected to significantly reduce the number of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) travelling on local roads during construction. By moving aggregates and other essential materials through the Port of Ipswich, the collaboration aims to improve supply chain efficiency, lower road congestion, and support a more sustainable logistics model for major infrastructure projects.
