How Walmart Is Reshaping Inbound Freight Through Truckload Consolidation
Walmart is expanding its inbound freight strategy with a new truckload consolidation program designed to combine smaller supplier shipments into fuller, more efficient loads. The goal is simple: reduce empty space, lower transportation costs, and improve delivery performance across Walmart’s distribution network.
Instead of suppliers shipping partially filled trailers independently, Walmart wants freight pooled together before moving into its network. That means fewer trucks on the road, stronger OTIF performance, and tighter control over inbound logistics as retailers continue pushing for faster and more efficient replenishment systems.
