India Logistics Market Heats Up as Bertelsmann Takes Majority Stake in LetsTransport

Bertelsmann has acquired a majority stake in Indian trucking marketplace LetsTransport, marking the first deal under its newly launched India-focused investment platform and highlighting rising global interest in the India logistics market.

The German media and investment giant has secured approximately 80% ownership of LetsTransport through its Bertelsmann Next India (BNI) initiative. The move reflects a long-term “buy-and-build” strategy aimed at creating a scalable, technology-driven logistics platform across India’s fast-growing freight ecosystem.

Founded in 2015, LetsTransport operates a digital marketplace that connects enterprise shippers with small fleet operators and truck owners, helping streamline first-mile and last-mile cargo movement. The company currently works with a large network of drivers and fleet partners while serving major enterprise clients across multiple Indian cities.

Despite the ownership change, LetsTransport’s founding team will continue to lead day-to-day operations, focusing on expanding platform capabilities, improving service reliability, and strengthening enterprise logistics solutions.

For Bertelsmann, the acquisition represents a strategic entry point into one of the world’s fastest-expanding logistics environments. India’s rapid e-commerce growth, manufacturing expansion, and infrastructure investments are driving increased demand for digitally enabled freight platforms capable of improving efficiency and visibility across supply chains.

Industry analysts expect the deal to accelerate consolidation and investment activity within the India logistics market, as global investors seek scalable, technology-enabled logistics companies capable of supporting the country’s long-term freight growth.
